Faith Formation

OBJECTIVE: 
To enable the parishioners grow in faith, develop a deep relationship with
God and be true witnesses of Christ.

STRATEGIES:
• To work closely with other departments in implementing the planned
activities.
• To empower the catechists through formations to facilitate faith formation
programs in the S.C.C and parish groups.
• To organize awareness programs based on sub parishes priorities.
• To organize retreats and recollections for the parishioners.
• To organize PPI program for the pupils in the schools within the
community.
• To empower the parishioners through seminars to encourage them to be
committed in their responsibilities.
• To work closely with the parish groups and assist them to implement their
planned activities.

STEPS: 
  •  Identify the major issues affecting our people in SCCs and parish groups and relate with their priorities.
  • Together with the SPPC organize on going formation program for the parishioners through seminars and workshops.
  • Organize train of trainers program for the catechists and leaders so that they may empower the SCC and groups
  • Conduct annual evaluations so as to know the level of achievement in the implementation of the parish plan.
  • Organize meetings at the beginning of every year with relevant groups to make an annual calendar.
ACTIVITIES:
1. Organize on ongoing formation for the SCCs and parish groups
2. Preparing people for the sacraments
3. Coordinating the preparation of the liturgy
4. Registration for the sacraments
5. PPI teaching program in the schools
6. Organizing recollections and retreats for SCCs and parish groups
7. Organizing catechists’ formation program to empower the SCC and
groups

VARIOUS GROUPS OF THE DEPARTMENT
Catechists

Objective:
To form a strong, united and committed group of catechists who will
empower the community spiritually.


Strategies:
● To have monthly formation meetings to empower ourselves with
knowledge and skills in our ministry.
● To work closely with the priests and the sub-parish leaders in the
implementation of our activities.
● To allocate two recollections in our annual calendar for spiritual
nourishment.
● To prepare yearly calendar at the beginning of every year.
● To pray for each other and have Eucharistic adoration at least once a
month.
● To have periodical evaluations to weigh the achievements.

Liturgy
In this section we have choirs, altar servers and also S.C.C’s who assist in preparation and animation of the liturgy. Through liturgy, Christians are helped to build a deep personal relationship with God.


Small Christian Communities
They are the pillars of the parish by which the parish gets its strength in promoting human and Christian values in their neighborhood through prayers, sharing the word of God and services.

Lumko Team
A group of lay people trained in lumko methodology who give leadership formation to the parish leaders. The team aims to empower the parish leaders and thus help the parishioners realize their role and take active participation in the church.
