OBJECTIVE
To support and implement formal and informal educational programs. 

GOAL
Improving the educational standards of school aged children, dropouts, young adults and continuous education to teachers and seminars to parents (guardians) in Kibera slum.

THE DEPARTMENT MANAGES EIGHT INSTITUTIONS

Parish Library
It is utilized by students from more than 88 schools located in Kibera, representing eight villages. The library motto is: “Reading is the pathway to knowledge”.

St. Bakhita Montessori Nurseries
The institution offers good standards of education, a feeding program for the kids while in school, teacher’s salaries and Didactic materials etc.
John Paul Secondary
This school was established to support education in a higher level to the children of kibera. The parish offers a feeding program, laboratory equipments, didactic materials and the teachers and supports staff salaries. 


Laini Saba primary
The school admits children from all religions and different social and cultural background, giving special priority to children orphaned by HIV/AIDS and very poor children within the community. The school has 475 pupils and 37 Teachers and support staff. 

Hair dressing and dress making School 
The centre offers training to young girls and boys in Kibera community who have dropped out of school. 
The course offered in dressmaking is measurement, cutting and making. It takes them two years to complete the course. 


Masonry and Carpentry
In carpentry the centre offers courses in woodwork, which includes joinery and cabinet making. In Masonry they train the students on block/brick laying, concreting and tiling.
The institute provides good standards of education, paying the trainers salary and a feeding program.  


Computer College 
To keep up with information technology the parish runs a computer college which offers training to John Paul II Secondary school and any other persons in the community who are interested in computer usage and application packages.
